Surveying the Pipeline of Biologics to treat Inflammatory Conditions

Biological drugs are nothing, but the complex molecules manufactured using living microorganisms, plants, or animal cells.   Recombinant DNA technology plays an important role in the production of Biologic drugs. They are also referred to as biopharmaceuticals.

Auto antibodies are released to attack the healthy cells when immune system mistakes part of your body like your joints or skin as foreign.

 Following are some of the autoimmune diseases:

·         Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
·         Type 1 diabetes
·         Psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis
·         Multiple sclerosis
·         Systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus)
·         Inflammatory bowel disease
·         Addison’s disease
·         Graves’ disease
·         Sjögren’s syndrome
·         Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
·         Myasthenia gravis

Biologics are changing the ways doctors treat common conditions that have plagued individuals for years. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Autoimmune Rheumatoid arthritis, certain cancers, and diabetes have the greatest number of dedicated biologic treatments.

Here are four categories of biologics to treat Autoimmune diseases:
·         Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors;
·         Interleukin (IL) inhibitors;
·         B-cells inhibitors; and
·         T-cells inhibitors.

Biologics have the capacity to stop the inflammatory disease process. However, they also have various potential side effects and increase a person’s risk of infection. In addition, many are not recommended for use in children and/or pregnant or nursing women. They also tend to be expensive.

Meet the Immunology Societies and Associations, Biological Drug Manufacturing Companies, Biopharmaceutical Industries and other eminent personalities related to the field of Immunology at Dubai in the upcoming event, 18th International Conference on Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry which is going to be held in October 18-19, 2018.
